1 Timothy 4
4 The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons… 6 If you point these things out to the brothers and sisters,[a] you will be a good minister of Christ Jesus, nourished on the truths of the faith and of the good teaching that you have followed. 7 Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly.
The Second Commandment
Exodus 20:4-6
4 “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
Catholics bow down and pray to images of Mary, it is idolatry.
Jeremiah 10:14-15
14 Everyone is senseless and without knowledge;
every goldsmith is shamed by his idols.
The images he makes are a fraud;
they have NO breath in them.
15 They are worthless, the objects of mockery;
when their judgment comes, they will perish.
Deuteronomy 4:23-24
23 Be careful not to forget the covenant of the Lord your God that he made with you; do not make for yourselves an idol in the form of anything the Lord your God has forbidden. 24 For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God.
Exodus 34:14
Colossians 3:5
Deuteronomy 4:16-18
Leviticus 26:1
Psalm 97:7
Ephesians 5:5
1 Corinthians 6:9-10
Isaiah 44:8-11
Leviticus 19:4
“I am the LORD, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, Nor My praise to graven images.”(Isaiah 42:8). “Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures.”(Romans 1:22-23). Christ came in the form of sinful flesh or as a corruptible man but He was not. “ …even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer.”(2Corinthians 5:16). God is eternal and invisible.(1 Timothy 1:17). “Brethren, join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in us.”(Philippians 3:17). The Apostles never made picture of Jesus. It was a Catholic invention and they even debated it for hundreds of years! It’s one of the things that Protestants got rid of during the reformation. Why bring it back when it’s seems so clearly forbidden in both Old and New Testament?
